Tinnitus is among the most common service-connected conditions. Public VA rating criteria typically treat it as a single evaluation when present, and the evidence that usually matters is proof it exists, that it began in or is linked to service, and that noise exposure or related injury is documented.

02 // Evidence on hand

Audiology exam / audiogramDocuments hearing status and often notes tinnitus.
Service noise or acoustic trauma recordsMOS, weapons, flight line, or incident reports can support in-service exposure.
In-service or near-separation complaintSick call, separation exam, or buddy statements can show onset timing.
Clinician opinion tying it to serviceA reasoned medical opinion is often what connects current tinnitus to service.
Current diagnosis or consistent self-reportThe condition has to be present now, not only in the past.
